Ina Garten is an American writer of cookery cookbooks and Emmy Award-winning host of Food Network's longest-running program Barefoot Contessa that debuted in 2002 and will run for 27 seasons till 2020. Ina started her career as a writer in the White House, writing the nuclear energy budget as well as policy reports. While she initially found the work fascinating and intellectually stimulating but she quickly became bored with it. Barefoot Contessa was then purchased. After 18 years of making her store a huge success, she sold it and began writing her first book. After that, several books were released and she also wrote columns for magazines. Another hit came from the Food Network Television show. Additionally, she offers everything from equipment to cooking tools and storage containers. Ina never went to a cookery school nor did she work in a dining establishment. Her education is completely self-taught. Her easy-going approach to entertaining as well as her simple culinary style is widely known. She is well-known for her simple recipes such as Skillet Baked Lemon Chicken Macaroni, Cheese and using Beef Bourguignon as well as Balsamic-Roasted Brussels Sprouts.
